On Friday, April 23, the Marines landed at Vista Grande High School with a tractor trailer and a Hummer, and they brought fitness challenge for students with them. Vista Grande High Marine Corps JROTC cadets took the fitness challenge head-on in the outdoor lunch area during second hour. The Marines brought plenty of hardware and memorabilia to make the event special. Students and cadets were rewarded for their performances and effort. Students reported having great fun while testing their physical abilities against Marine Corps standards. Marine Sergeant Harris (Right) kept close watch and accurate count as Cadets Naethan Soto (Foreground), Pristina Valencia (Center), and Marissa Salinas (Left) eagerly await their turn to demonstrate their upper body strength while watching Cadet Jovian Romero (on the chin-up bar) crank out one chin-up after the other. The Spartans are instructed by Dr. Tyrone Hall, CWO-3 (ret) and GySgt Jesus Flores. For more information on the JROTC Program, visit www.cguhsd.org/vgJROTC.aspx.
